Golden Mart
campaign writer
Golden Mart is a single-player TTRPG designed by Michael DeAnda and Carly Kocurek that can be played with a penny and a bag of M&Ms. The game takes place in neighborhood convenience store during a magical catastrophe. I designed and wrote a campaign, Moony Desert Nights, centered around one particular magical catastrophe for the player to respond to via immersive roleplay. The full game handbook can be downloaded here
Read the Room
game designer, writer, artist
Read the Room, featured in the 2021 Wordplay Festival, is a top-down narrative game made by myself, Devin Clara Fanslow, and Feiyi Zhou. The player navigates a reunion held at their family’s library where their great grandmother has gone missing. The player uses a mind-reading ability to solve puzzles and navigate further throughout the game board in an attempt to uncover what has happened. Watch the game demo for a look at some of the gameplay! (Note: if video not working on page watch in a new tab here)
Fines and Fees Challenge
writer & narrative designer
The Fines and Fees Challenge is a series of interactive scenarios in Twine that highlight how fines and fees for petty offenses create impossible situations for those experiencing poverty and/or homelessness. I worked on Fines & Fees in conjunction with Professor Lien Tran as part of a research assistantship at DePaul University. For this project, I edited and updated existing game content and also wrote and designed new content to expand and adapt what Professor Tran had started. All three twine scenarios can be played on the Poor Not Guilty website.
